What aRE PARTIAL DENTURES?

Unlike complete dentures – which are designed to replace a full set of teeth – upper and/or lower partial dentures fill the gaps left by missing teeth. Partials can be unclipped and removed if wanted, and can help you feel more confident if you are missing a small number of teeth.

There are a couple of options you may want to choose from if you are considering wearing partial dentures:

METAL FRAMEWORK PARTIALs

Metal framework partial dentures feature clasps that can attach onto natural teeth, keeping them in place, and you feeling secure. Expect a slight movement of the dentures, even after your bone tissue and gums have gotten used to them.

ACRYLIC REMOVABLE PARTIALs

Some partials dentures are made almost entirely of acrylic, but still use wire clasps to grip your natural teeth. Acrylic removable partials can be a cost-effective option, compared to metal-based partials and can be used as a good transitional denture if you’re planning to have further dental treatment, such as implants, in the future.

FLEXIBLE PARTIALS

Made from thin thermoplastics like nylon, flexible partial dentures are much lighter compared to thicker, more rigid acrylic dentures.

CLEANING YOUR PARTIALs

It’s important to take good care of your partials so they stay fresh and comfortable in your mouth. Adopting a daily cleaning regime is important to keep them looking their best.
